  New managing director for Cape Wine Academy

Michelle Grimbeek, currently regional manager of the Cape Wine Academy (CWA), has been appointed managing director effective 1 January 2014.

Founded in 1979, the Cape Wine Academy provides a range of social and professional wine courses for individuals and tertiary institutions, and specialises in creating bespoke winetasting events for corporate clients.

Michelle has been regional manager since 2002, and is based at the CWA's Stellenbosch office.

Previously a school teacher, Michelle brings with her over 20 years’ experience in the hospitality sector, starting out as manager at a few guesthouses/retail outlets before joining the academy as a course coordinator in 2002.

Academically, Grimbeek has attained her Higher Diploma in Education (HDE) and the Cape Wine Academy Diploma II. Preparing for her role as managing director for many years, Michelle has also successfully completed Assessor Training, Moderator Training, Facilitator Training (Train the Trainer), Design & Develop, EMT First Aid Level 1-3 and finally Access training, which she completed in 2013.

The CWA board applauds Michelle’s appointment to the position of MD and wishes her a bright and successful future.
