Many of South Africa's top wines will be on offer at this year’s Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival during several events planned for the event's ten days till Sunday 7 July.

From bubbly-and-oyster pairings to the popular two-night Knysna Wine Festival, where up to 50 wines will be on offer including harder-to-find regional wines, to a Wine & The Senses presentation, winelovers will be in their element, the organisers say.

Tonight (29 June 2013) Jane Simon, aka The Wine Ambassador, will present a Méthode Cap Classique & Oyster Tasting.

Then, on Monday 1 and Tuesday 2 July, it’s the turn of the 8th Knysna Wine Festival. Promising to be the biggest yet, the event affords the opportunity to taste up to 50 of South Africa's top wines, including a selection of harder-to-come-by regional bottlings such as Bramon, Jakkalsvlei, Newstead Lund, Calitzdorp Cellar, De Krans, Fernskloof and Hillock.

Other wines on show include Ataraxia, Beau Belle, Beau Joubert, Boekenhoutskloof, Bon Courage, Bonnievale Cellars, Creation, Cronier, De Grendel, Ernie Els, Fairview, Graham Beck, Hill & Dale, Hillcrest, Holden Manz, Jordan, Malanot, Neil Ellis, Painted Wolf, Peter Falke, Raats Family, Rhebokskloof, Solms-Delta, Steenberg, StellenRust, Sumaridge, Van Loveren, Waterford and Zorgvliet.

All wines will be available for tasting and purchasing at special event prices.

Tickets to the Knysna Wine Festival cost R100 per person and include winetastings, tasting glass, wine guide and a taste of Côte d'Or Belgian chocolate on arrival. The adjacent Night Market features many gourmet food stalls, live entertainment and shops. A reasonably priced shuttle service is also available.

A portion of the Knysna Wine Festival proceeds will benefit the Dorothy Broster Child & Youth Care Centre, which provides short-term and emergency accommodation for up to 40 children in need.

Finally, on 6 July, Jane Simon will present a participatory talk, Wine & the Senses, designed to reveal how the senses affect our perception of wines. Booking is essential.
